What is the age requirement to participate on a short-term mission trip?
Adults must be 18 years or older. If a trip is designated as being open to families, then children grade 7 and up may attend with a parent. If students 16-17 years old want to participate on a trip without a parent they must be accompanied by a legal guardian and have a minor consent form that is signed by both parents and notarized.
How will I know if you received my application?
You should receive an email within a week of applying, confirming that we received your application. If you do not receive this email, please contact us at aija@ridgepointwichita.com.
By applying, am I committing to the trip?
No, you are not committing by submitting your application. The application indicates your interest in being considered for the trip. After the application deadline, you will receive another email either confirming your place on the team or indicating we were unable to place you and why.
When am I officially committed?
Your space on the team is not reserved until you pay the $$ non-refundable deposit.
What are the requirements to be part of a missions team?
You do not have to be a member or regular attender at Ridgepoint, but we may give preference to those who are. Each trip has different spiritual and physical requirements. If you are not a fit for a trip for those reasons, we will notify you.
What if I don’t think I can afford to go on a mission trip?
While the cost of the trip is each member’s responsibility, we do a team fundraiser and encourage you to do personal fundraising. We do this because we have seen how faithful God can be and because we know that some people would love to participate in helping send others on mission trips.
What if I don’t have a passport?
Apply now for a passport if you don’t have one. https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html
If your passport expires less than six months before the trip departure date, you will need to renew your passport as soon as possible. Additionally, if you have a non-U.S. passport, you are responsible for finding out if a visa is required for you to travel to a specific country.

Can I travel to another destination or stay longer at my destination?
We require that for group travel (Mexico trips can be different), you fly out with the team. Most often you will be expected to return with the team as well. In rare occasions, the team leader(s) may grant you the option to return at a later date.
Is safety an issue?
We have taken every precaution possible to mitigate unnecessary risks involved with our short-term trips. We continually monitor the personal, social, political, and environmental factors that might heighten security and health issues of our teams and consider the safety of our teams very important. We also work in partnership with our host organization or missionaries to discern how to best mitigate any issues. Ultimately every day of our lives is in the Lord's hands and we trust in Him.
